Uniform Guidelines

Clothing must be sized to fit the student. Pants should fit appropriately and should not be too tight or too loose. Shirts should be the appropriate size and should not extend below the hip.

Shirts/Blouses: White or sky-blue polo or oxford shirts (undershirts, t-shirts, midriffs are NOT permitted)

Pants/Skirts: Navy-blue khaki pants (jeans, joggers, sweatpants, or leggings can be worn but must be navy blue)

Shoes: Closed in shoes (clogs, flip-flops, or slippers are NOT permitted)

  • Clothing that does not fit reasonably
  • Clothing with logos, slogans, words, or pictures promoting or depicting alcohol, tobacco, drugs, vandalism, bigotry, violence, sexual connotations, or profanity. This includes clothing with phrases or pictures that have double meanings.
  • Clothing that is revealing or immodest or tops that expose bare midriff or undergarments. Examples include halter tops, bathing suits, sports bras, tube tops, razor back tops, spaghetti straps, and low cut tops.
  • Shorts, skirts, and dresses must be long enough that they reach the same point on the thigh as the bottom of a student’s closed fist when the arm is extended and resting on the thigh.
  • Earrings, chains, jewelry that dangles and could be dangerous when playing
  • Shoes with open toes or excessive heels
  • Hats worn indoors or incorrectly

Discipline Code

The New York City Department of Education (NYC DOE) is committed to ensuring a safe, supportive, and respectful learning environment for all students. The Discipline Code outlines the standards of behavior expected from all students, as well as the consequences for violating these standards.
Students are expected to show respect for themselves, their peers, and all school personnel. This includes treating everyone with courtesy and consideration, and refraining from any form of bullying, harassment, or discrimination.
